Pyongyang favors Kerry -- my choice just solidified.

IHT%3A With an eye on U.S. vote%2C North Korea rails at Bush: "SEOUL North Korea called President George W. Bush an imbecile and a tyrant who puts Hitler in the shade%2C unleashing a stream of insults Monday that seemed to rule out any serious progress on nuclear disarmament talks before the American elections in November."

Well, that settles it for me. Granted, this is a negotiating tactic typical of North Korea, but it's somehow unsettling that Pyongyang prefers the Democrat.

And moreover, they are Communists. Americans and Communists have never really tangoed together well, so what's it matter? I never thought Bush was the brightest kid in the class, and I consider his regime a bit on the tyrannical side. Plus, hadn't we all kind of known all along that nuclear disarmament wasn't really what North Korea had in mind? I don't think North Korea is about to declare nuclear war, but they don't want to give up their bombs. My biggest concern, actually, is Bush's "family values" stance, which is a giant crap storm. Not teaching kids to use birth control will not make them use birth control when the abstinence-only education inevitably fails. People can rail on all they want to about how wrong and backward and evil the Islamic theocracies are, but we've got a president who's chipping away at reproductive rights of females, hiring his friends who think a woman's place is in the home, and teaching kids a philosophy that, in today's highly sexualized culture, does not work.

Cake, anyone?
